Rth = thickness / (conductivity x area) = 0.0015 m / (3 x 0.0001 m2) ~ 5 °C/W
Therefore, the temperature difference across the pad at 2 W:
T = Rth x Power = 5 °C/W x 2 W = 10 °C
This means the LED will run 10 degreesC hotter due to the interface; picking a thinner or more conductive pad reduces this thermal rise.
