Use louvres or perforated panels sized to allow sufficient volumetric flow. A simple empirical rule: double the free area compared to a powered-fan intake equivalent to account for lower flow velocity.
Thermosiphon uses density differences to circulate water without pumps. Proper piping pitch, short runs, and elevation differences are essential. Use insulated return lines to avoid reversing flow during cool periods.

Scenario: a recirculation pump and control electronics inside an enclosure dissipate 25 W continuous inside a garage at 30°C ambient. Desired max internal temp = 60°C, so allowable delta-T = 30°C. Required Rth = delta-T / P = 30 / 25 = 1.2 °C/W. Choose a heatsink and convection path combination rated below 1.2 °C/W. Add a design margin of 20% to account for dust and reduced convection, so target Rth = 1.0 °C/W or lower.

Ensure electrical wiring keeps clear of the primary convection path and use high-temperature-rated cable near elements. For sensors, mount thermistors or PT100 sensors away from direct radiant surfaces to measure bulk air temperature accurately.
