Ensure VRWM is above your normal operating voltage, and VC is below the maximum voltage your circuit can handle. for a 5V logic line, a 5V Uni-directional TVS with VC of 9.2V is common.

Your circuit operates at 12V, and the microcontroller's maximum rating is 16V. A TVS diode with a standoff voltage (VRWM) of 13.3V and a clamping voltage (VC) of 19V (at some peak pulse current) might allow a spike to exceed 16V. You need a TVS with a lower clamping voltage, say one with VRWM=12.2V and VC=15V (for an 8/20µs surge). This ensures the voltage never exceeds your MCU's limit.
The peak pulse power rating is also critical. If the surge current is 10A, the peak power is 10A × 15V = 150W. Choose a TVS rated for at least 150W peak pulse power (common ratings are 400W, 600W, 1500W).
