Example 1 - 12V DC LED strip: steady current 2.5A. Choose a fuse rated slightly above steady-state (e.g., 3A fast-acting) unless the strip has high inrush, in which case a slow-blow 3A may be better.
Example 2 - 230 VAC bench supply: if the supply draws 1.2A steady, use a fuse rated 1.6-2.0A with appropriate AC voltage rating and breaking capacity. For motors, size based on stall current and select time-delay types.
