Suppose your power amplifier dissipates 45 W, and you want the device junction to stay below 125 degreesC at a 25 degreesC ambient. If the total junction-to-ambient resistance must not exceed 2.2 degreesC/W and the device plus interface totals 0.7 degreesC/W:
